IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE ME, WE WOULD NEED 2.8 PLANETS! (this feels like a soviet era self denouncement!)
I am, to be honest, a little surprised my foot print is not much greater. In the last 18 months I have bought the first house I have ever had as a adult - I expected that to have greater implications (not only because the physical footprint is higher, but also because houses are regarded as harder to heat). On the 'positive' side there are 4 of us living in the house, I don't drive (though I sometimes travel with my wife who does); I have cut down my hours on airplanes; eat meat infrequently, try to keep our waste to a minimum, buy local organic foods as much as possible (and happily pay the premium). But still 12 acres is high considering that the planet cannot afford me!
